Ward Manager (RMN or RNLD) – Neurological Rehabilitation

Location: York • Salary: Up to £52,500 per annum • Hours: 35 per week (rota) • Contract: Permanent • Company: Pivotal People on behalf of our client

Introduction / About the Role

Pivotal People are partnering with a purpose-built neurobehavioural rehabilitation service in York to appoint a Ward Manager. Supporting up to 40 adults with non-progressive acquired brain injuries, you’ll be the visible clinical lead—setting standards, nurturing a high-performing MDT and turning complex presentations into meaningful, measurable progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on clinical and operational leadership to deliver safe, person-centred, evidence-based care.
  • Lead admission and discharge pathways, ensuring seamless, goal-focused rehabilitation.
  • Embed robust MDT communication and documentation for continuity and outcomes.
  • Drive risk management, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
  • Recruit, mentor and develop colleagues; manage rotas, supervision, appraisal and workforce planning.
  • Champion reflection, learning and continuous improvement across the ward.

Skills & Experience Required

  • NMC-registered RMN or RNLD.
  • Confident working knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
  • Proven experience managing a ward or leading large, diverse clinical teams in complex care/rehab.
  • Mentorship in Practice (or willingness to complete).
  • Strong communicator who can influence, inspire and deliver sustained service improvement.
